Diegetic sound are sounds that the actors can hear so for example in Shaun of the dead when they find the zombie in their back garden we hear lodes of digetic sounds during that long scene such as the grouns from the zombies, the pebel hitting the girl,the camera taking a photo.

Non diegetic sound are sounds that actors cannot hear and are edited in later on like for example the music in kings man, the actors cannot hear the music but it is still in the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDJEyqNw-9k&t=
Direct sound is sound that was recorded at the time filming took place.
post-synchronised sound is added after filming has taken place.
contrapuntal sound strongly contrasts with the mood or tone of the scene.
parallel sound matches the mood or tone.
Exaggerated sound is used to heighten emotion or meaning in a scene.
Foley sound are sound effects that are added to the film during post production.
